8 Takeaways From Harvard’s Task Force Reports
There appears to be some misunder-standing on one point in the rules which have been adopted to govern Harvard athletics. It has been said to us with reference to some of this year's players, that the rules prohibit any special from playing on a Harvard team, 'varsity or freshman, during his first year of residence. The rule is, to be sure, slightly ambiguous, but such an interpretation has never been given to it by the authorities.
The rules begin with the words: "No one shall be allowed to represent Harvard University as a member of any team," and any subsequent mention of a "Harvard team" has reference to these words. First year specials cannot play upon any 'varsity team, but it is quite within the rules that they should play on freshman teams.
